Band of Blue Wins Gold Division Grand Championship

The Band of Blue travelled to Haralson County High School in Tallapoosa, GA, to the annual Golden River Marching Festival. There were 12 bands at the event, mostly schools from West GA, Coweta County area, and metro Atlanta.
The Band of Blue won the Gold Division Grand Championship - placing first in the AAAA Division and Gold Division! The band received the highest music score at the event and was awarded the Paul Ramsey High Music Award. In addition, the band received the highest percussion score at the event and won awards for best percussion in class AAAA (and overall), best front ensemble, and best props in the Gold Division. The colorguard came in second overall for the whole day as well as the drum major team. The band also received straight Superior Ratings (the highest possible).
This is a MAJOR win for the program against some well established band programs across the state! All of the adjudicators for the event were from the staff of Jacksonville State University and are well respected in their field. The students represented and showed off for our school system in a major way.

National Assessment of Educational Progress

HCHS has been selected to participate in the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as NAEP. It is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what students across the country know and can do in a variety of subjects. Some of our 12 grade students have been selected for this important test and we have no doubt they will represent us well.
More details to come as we move closer to our school's assessment day. Thank you in advance for your involvement.
